Welcome to the journal

Why I'm starting to write in public, what to expect on this site, and the cadence I'm holding myself to.

Kashish MangtaniJan 12, 20261 min read

I built this site three times before I shipped a single post. Every version was bigger, more cinematic, more "wait until it's perfect." None of them shipped writing.

So this is post zero. The site is good enough. The cadence is the work.

The promise

I'll publish here every Sunday. Sometimes it'll be a short note. Sometimes a deeper essay or a post-mortem. Either way — once a week, ship-or-explain.

The topics I'm circling:

  • Building production AI — agents, RAG, evals, voice, the boring infrastructure that holds it all together.
  • What didn't work — the failure mode is usually more interesting than the success.
  • The craft of writing-as-an-engineer — how I think about code, how I read papers, how I argue with myself in code review.

What this is not

This isn't a tutorial site. It isn't a frameworks-of-the-month newsletter. I don't have an opinion on every model release, and I'm not going to manufacture one for engagement.

What you'll get is what I'm actually thinking about that week — specific, opinionated, written down so I can disagree with my past self in six months.

How to follow

  • RSS is coming soon — the link will live at the bottom of the index.
  • @aibykashish on Instagram for the shorter notes between posts.
  • Email me if something here makes you think — I read everything.

If you read something here and it stays with you for a week, that's the win.

— Kashish
